Happy New Year

2024 is stepping into the door and what can I say, 2023 was a very exciting year for me. But still, my journey through New Zealand is not finished and the best part is following. But before that I have to work a little. I wish a happy New Year!

Weekly report

Because I’m currently in an old British colony, I started my week with Christmas Eve. I was a wonderful Christmas dinner and my “Sachertorte” got good critics too. My landlord gave me a chocolate tin in New Zealand style. Hopefully it will survive the flight back.

On Tuesday I spent the 30°C warm day to go for a small hike at Godley Heads. This was a great test for my legs, the training was worth it and now concentrating on endurance and the Great Walks shouldn’t be a burden. Sadly, you cannot walk the whole cliff line at Godley Heads, because the barracks from World War II are built with Asbestos.

During work I was a driver the whole time and we were going litter picking. Every day we walked over 15 km, we rescued four scooters from the Avon and I’ve seen many places in Christchurch. The variety was surprisingly remarkable.

On Saturday I visited the Christchurch Casino. The interior is nice, the gambling offer is great and all the classics are included. The dress code is casual, but the atmosphere is good.

New Year's Eve

Today there is another event in Hagley Park, Rock the Park New Year’s Eve. Again, free entry and it should have one of the best lineups of bands from New Zealand. I’m excited for it and wish you all a Happy New Year!

As always, you can view more pictures in the gallery.
